and we package our products in glass bottles and jars.
Our Distinctives
Organic & 100% Grassfed
Traders Point Creamery started bottling certified organic milk, and selling direct to customers in the central Indiana region in the summer of 2003. As the first USDA certified organic farm in Indiana, we are committed to never using synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, or hormones. Our milk is certified organic by an independent certification authority, Indiana Certified Organic, who verifies USDA standards. Our herd of Brown Swiss and Jersey cows are 100% grassfed – no grain ever – and free to roam in our pastures of fertile soil and well-cultivated grass blends.
We produce artisan dairy products, which means they have been made in small batches using traditional methods. Like our farming practices, our production is designed with health and sustainability as the goals. We use minimally invasive methods to retain as much of the milk’s natural flavor, character, and health benefits as possible.
Non-homogenized
While we do pasteurize our milk, we do not homogenize it because the process changes the fat molecules from their natural state, preventing them from separating as they naturally would. The homogenization process, which disperses the fat molecules evenly throughout the milk, can make it more difficult for our bodies to recognize and properly assimilate these beneficial fats. Some evidence has linked homogenization to arterial damage and possible hardening of the arteries. Because it’s handled less and creates less damage to the fat molecules, non-homogenized milk is better for our bodies and may be an easier-to-digest product for those who do not typically tolerate dairy well.
Creamline, Full-fat
In grassfed milk, health-promoting omega-3 fatty acids, CLA, beta-carotene, and vitamins A and D are found in the fat or cream. For this reason, our products contain primarily whole milk, so that our bodies can benefit from the rich nutrients found in our milk. Research has also shown that increasing healthy fats in the diet, and restricting carbohydrates, is actually the best way to lose weight.
